SDI was contracted to Design, Build and Integrate a total solution for a leading footwear supplier.
Product is either sent in full cases directly to the stores or split into mixed sku cartons. This video shows the portion of the building that is associated with creating the mixed SKU cartons.

Solid SKU cartons arrive at a de casing station the ‘Pair Boxes ‘ are manually removed from the outer carton and DE shingled onto an infeed conveyor. The in-feed conveyor automatically feeds the individual pair boxes onto a tray, each pair box is fed onto an individual tray.
The outer boxes are subsequently placed onto an empty carrier system that carries empty boxes to the operators to be reused for packing. Pair boxes can also be placed on to trays manually, in either case the pair box is identified by reading the bar code on the outside of the pair box.
After induction onto a tray the pair boxes are tracked and diverted to the appropriate chute, each chute represents a carton that will be shipped to a store. Upon completion the contents of the chute are packed into an outbound carton ( Reused Cartons ).

The cartons are taped shut and identified by a unique bar code which later identifies the carton for automatic printing of shipping labels. The entire solution was delivered by SDI.
